Phyllis Browning Co. moves into new digs

No stranger to finding homes for its clients, realty powerhouse The Phyllis Browning Co. has recently moved into new quarters both in Alamo Heights and Shavano Park.

The company on June 15 set up operations in an Alamo Heights office building at 6061 Broadway, relocating from an older building just across the street. In addition, agents also took up residence in the Pond Hill building at 4372 N. Loop 1604 West, Suite 102, at the intersection with Northwest Military Highway.

The company’s growth and a vibrant housing market in both areas prompted the dual relocations into state-of-the-art facilities, officials said.

“We’ve actually been in Alamo Heights 29 years,” CEO Phyllis Browning said. “We’ve built a new building because the other building became antiquated and was not serving our growth and needs anymore, so we decided to build a new office. It’s pretty exciting.”

Technology plays a bigger role than ever before in the real-estate business, she added.

“We have a lot of new state-of-the-art things that were not there previously,” Browning said. “With all the digital advances that are going on now, we really needed to update access to the internet to make it faster and easier for the agents to use.”

The real-estate firm has about 200 agents and five locations across the greater San Antonio area. The new building in Alamo Heights is 9,500 square feet and was designed by Overland Partners; Joeris General Contractors handled the construction.

“This is a fabulous location directly cross from our former office,” said agent Ann Van Pelt. “The design is beautiful throughout for the most efficient, elegant work space. The Phyllis Browning Co. mission statement is ‘to be the very best,’ and this new building, with the design, furnishings and equipment, will be an affirmation of that goal. Even the landscaping is outstanding and a testament to the company’s dedication to the community.”

Van Pelt said the the real estate market in Alamo Heights — nicknamed “09” after the ZIP code 78209 where it’s located — is very strong.

“‘Oh-nine is always a good real estate market, with its exemplary school system and beautiful homes,” she said. “It is one of the great areas in San Antonio in which to raise a family and enjoy easy access to downtown.”

More space was needed on the North Side, hence the move to the Shavano Park office.

“We had an older office that we were in over on Blanco and Bitters (roads), but we decided we again needed greater space to meet our needs and our growing number of agents,” Browning said.

The area is booming with real estate, according to Van Pelt.

“This is a growing, expanding area, and it puts the Phyllis Browning Co. and all the outstanding agents that serve this area in an excellent location,” she said. “The office is also equipped to do business in the 21st century, with the same equipment and furnishings as the Alamo Heights office. This gives the company a very consistent, inviting environment to work in and greet our guests.”

She added, “San Antonio is a vibrant, growing community with a great variety of housing styles, prices and locations. The San Antonio housing market is strong with very steady growth. We are not a boom-or-bust town.”
