He attended Texas Military Institute and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin. He has had successful careers in film and video production and internet technology.

His family ranching history spans over 130 years throughout Atascosa, Medina, Zavala, Frio, Duval and La Salle Counties. The ranch he currently owns is located near Los Angeles, Texas in La Salle County, which has taught him the true meanings of the words 'hot,' 'dry,' and 'rugged.'
