. . . a little bit funky, a little bit edgy, perhaps a little bit bohemian, yet touched with class and a sense of history. Southtown is a community that has its own distinctive San Antonio vibe, and locals and tourists alike have discovered that they enjoy the beat.
Just south of downtown, Southtown includes the adjacent historic neighborhoods of King William, Blue Star and Lavaca. Galleries, shops and art studios are interspersed with bistros, coffee shops, taco huts, ice houses, salsa clubs and beer gardens. Not to mention the San Antonio River and the Mission Trail!

An eclectic assortment of wonderful homes, condos, lofts and apartments flow through and around the shops, restaurants and entertainment venues. Both the large, venerable 19th century dwellings of King William and the Mission-style houses of the early 20th century were built to maximize comfort in a warm(!) climate, with large porches on all sides and balconies on any additional floors. Locally sourced wood and stone are prominent in both types of architecture, and thoughtful interior carpentry and details abound. Various trendy residences have sprung from roots that include breweries, mills and warehouses. Previously derelict lots have enticed new builders to rejuvenate the area.

Close to iconic San Antonio attractions such as the River Walk, Tower of the Americas, Majestic Theatre, Alamodome, Pearl Brewery and La Villita, Southtown is also just moments away from major traffic arteries: IH-10, Hwy 281, and I-35 are each within a couple of miles and easily accessible for commuters. Not that you’ll need to “commute” if you work downtown; simply drive a few blocks. Hmmm. Maybe “. . . the living is easy . . .” in Southtown.
